Much of our movement as human beings originates at the axis of our hips! The hips, or the
pelvis and the hip joints, are big players in the movement of yoga and everyday living. In this
workshop we will learn about the anatomy of the pelvis and hip joints, where they are, how
they function and common mistakes to avoid so you can fine tune your yoga practice. We will
spend time learning with an anatomical model of the vertebral column and pelvis and then
apply that knowledge in practice and exploration of familiar asana. For instance, you will
explore whether you habitually forward bend from the axis of your hips or from your spine, a
good thing to know to protect your back! This class lays the ground work for the following class
on the spine.
Bring your curiosity, questions, and an open mind as well as your yoga mat and a notebook if
you wish to take notes. Also, please bring snacks/lunch as needed.
All levels welcome.
